Attention Graduating Seniors: Research Assistants (RAs) Needed: OSU Wexner Medical Center - Suicide Risk
Apply through Workday
Dr. Nik Allan and Dr. Melanie Bozzay are faculty in the Department of Psychiatry at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center who specialize in brief intervention development and delivery and research examining mechanisms of suicide risk. They are currently hiring 2 paid, full-time research assistant (RA) positions for a project examining strategies to improve brief interventions amongst individuals recently discharged from inpatient psychiatric care.
The position itself is great for new graduates (or soon to be new graduates) who are interested in pursuing graduate training in the field of Psychology or in mental health care more broadly. Dr. Allan and Dr. Bozzay also have a strong track record of helping prior RAs obtain admission into highly competitive Clinical Psychology Ph.D. programs.
RAs will be trained in administering structured clinical interviews to patients representing a range of diagnostic presentations who are at high risk for suicide. Patients will be recruited from a psychiatric inpatient unit. RAs will be trained in risk assessment procedures and collection of real-world experience data using ecological momentary assessment procedures and wearable technology and will learn the rigorous procedures needed to oversee NIMH-funded studies. There are also opportunities for RAs to develop research projects that can result in conference presentations and potentially publications.
