Research in the PRISM Lab (Pain Rehabilitation Integrative Science and Mechanisms Laboratory) aims to better understand contributors to chronic pain, including pain sensitization, psychological and behavioral factors, autonomic dysregulation, and social determinants of health, and to develop mechanism-based rehabilitation interventions. Current projects include clinical trials of nonpharmacological interventions, such as vagus nerve stimulation and exercise, for individuals with knee pain or chronic low back pain.

Undergraduate researchers will receive dedicated, hands-on training and close, ongoing mentorship. Students will have opportunities to gain guided experience across the research process, including participant recruitment, intervention delivery, data collection, and dissemination, with responsibilities tailored to their training, interests, and progress.

Preferred Qualifications

• Genuine interest in and strong motivation for clinical pain research
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Reliability and timely communication

Students are generally expected to commit approximately 10 hours per week for at least 2 years. Opportunities may be available for voluntary research experience, Federal Work-Study, or salary/stipend, depending on student eligibility, funding availability, and applicable approval or hiring processes.

OSU College of Medicine Q&A registration 

Students who have questions about applying to the MD program at Ohio State are invited to join monthly Q & A sessions on 9/8/26, 10/6/26, 11/10/26, 12/8/26, 1/12/27, 2/2/27, 3/9/27, 4/13/27, 5/11/27. 

Individuals interested can view available dates and sign up for Q & A sessions through a Qualtrics Survey.

These sessions are similar to faculty office hours: Attendees bring there questions regarding the application process to the MD program. There is no formal presentation.

Dreams on Horseback is a therapeutic riding facility located in Blacklick (about 25 minutes off campus). DOH is in need of more volunteers for a variety of roles! Duties can range from walking alongside riders, leading horses, barn care, facility maintenance, admin tasks, event setup, and more. No experience required.
