Hello everyone! My name is Kyle, and I am from Mason, Ohio. I am a junior at Ohio State, and I am pursuing a major in psychology along with a minor in business. I am interested in organizational psychology as well as jobs within operations management. After undergrad I plan on getting a master's in organizational psychology or a related field. In my free time I enjoy playing sports, specifically tennis, basketball, and volleyball. Come see me in the learning lab if you need any help.

Hey there! I’m Meghan Rogozinski, a third-year student from Cleveland, Ohio. I am majoring in Psychology with minors in Speech and Hearing Science and Music. After graduation, I plan to get a master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology or a PhD in Communication Sciences and Disorders. Outside of the learning lab, I also work as a Research Assistant in the Stress, Behavioral Immunology, and Health Disparities Lab. In my free time, I am a member of Off The Lake Productions and Ohio State’s Chorale here on campus. I’m thrilled to be back in the Learning Lab this year and can’t wait to work with you!

Hi! My name is Summer Boedeker, a fourth-year psychology and criminology major with minors in forensic science and American Sign Language from Perrysburg, Ohio. After graduation, I plan on becoming a forensic psychologist, focusing on applications of psychology within the criminal justice system. On campus, I’m very involved with my sorority, Gamma Phi Beta, and I also work at the RPAC as a group fitness instructor, teaching Zumba and Aqua Fitness – feel free to join me for a class some time! Outside of classes, working, and clubs, I love reading, painting, going to concerts, watching Formula 1 races, and hanging out with my friends. Hi everyone! My name is Taylor and I’m from the western suburbs of Chicago. I am a fourth-year psychology student here at OSU with a minor in Substance Misuse and Addiction. After undergrad, I am hoping to earn my master’s degree and get into mental health counseling or teaching. In addition to being a peer expert, I am also the Vice President of the Positive Psychology Club and a member of my sorority, Alpha Xi Delta. In my free time, I enjoy reading and taking workout classes at the RPAC. I am looking forward to a great year in the Learning Lab!

Hi everyone! My name is Riya, and I am from Macedonia, Ohio. I am currently a second-year psychology student with a minor in statistics. I am interested in the ways in which all different kinds of stimuli, such as environmental and social factors, affect our own perceptions, beliefs, and opinions; with this fascination, I wish to pursue a PhD in social psychology. I hope to run my own lab and conduct original research someday! In my free time, I enjoy practicing the flute and piano, playing board games, going on nature walks, and attempting to properly play pickleball (does anyone have any pointers?). Aside from that, I am so excited to see you all this year in the Learning Lab!

Hi! My name is Gabbie Kosakowski, and I am a third-year student from the Cleveland area. I am doing a dual degree in psychology and finance with a minor in financial planning. I hope to go into financial planning or investment banking once I graduate. I am involved on campus with organizations such as Psychology Club, Women in Business, and Alpha Gamma Delta sorority. For fun, I enjoy baking, Pilates, traveling to new places, listening to music, shopping too much, and getting sweet treats. Hello! My name is Layne Nelson and I am a third-year Cellular and Molecular Neuroscience major and Developmental Psychology minor at OSU! I am currently on the Pre-Med track and am hopeful to pursue a career in pediatric psychiatry in the future! I am from Wooster, Ohio which is about 1.5 hours northeast of Columbus. Outside of being a Peer Expert, I currently work as a Registered Behavioral Technician (RBT) at a behavioral therapy clinic at home. I like to do nails in my free time as well as hanging out with friends, playing card games, playing piano, and watching sitcoms with my roommate. I am very excited to work with everyone in the Learning Lab and can't wait for a great semester!

Hi everyone! My name is Leah Nienaber, and I am a third-year Biology major with a Developmental Psychology minor. I am currently on the pre-dental track, and I am hoping to be a Pediatric Dentist one day. I am from Loveland, OH which is just outside of Cincinnati. During the summer I work as an assistant at a dental office closer to Dayton. On campus, I am also involved in Bluefish Swim School, Delight Ministries, and my sorority, Chi Omega. In my free time, I enjoy lifting, taking fitness classes at the RPAC, hiking with my dog, watching reality TV with my friends, and trying new restaurants and ice cream places. Hello! I'm Anderson Ogle, but feel free to call me Andy! I'm from the small town of Cambridge, Ohio, and currently in my third year of studying psychology. My big dream is to earn a PhD in clinical psychology and one day help athletes as a sports and performance psychologist. Hi everyone! My name is Caden and I'm a third-year student from Cleveland, Ohio. I am majoring in Psychology and Spanish, with a minor in Criminal Justice/Criminology. Ultimately, my plans are to go to graduate school for Clinical/Forensic Psychology to become a Forensic Psychologist and work in the justice system. Outside of my work as a Psych 2220 Peer Expert at Ohio State, I love to hang out with friends and family, travel, explore Columbus, play sports and work out, and am involved in several clubs and organizations on campus. Peer Expert Job Description

  • Work with students providing explanations or concepts and guidance on practice problems but will NOT do homework problems for the student.
  • Peer Experts are scheduled to work 5-8 hours per week in the Learning Lab.
  • Peer Experts assist in Psychology 2220 classes 1-3 times each semester. Psychology 2220 classes are typically on MWF in autumn and spring semesters.
  • After reporting to work promptly at the scheduled time, Peer Experts are expected to be helpful, courteous, and respectful to students at all times.
  • Peer Experts work with a student for one or two problems at a time and then to move on to other students who need assistance.
  • Peer Experts provide feedback to students and offer an opportunity for discussion and exploration of concepts in data analysis.
  • Peer Experts encourage students in the Learning Lab to work with and learn from each other.
  • Peer Experts attend in-person trainings and complete weekly practice problems to review concepts and sharpen their explanatory skills. Particularly in autumn semester, Peer Experts should expect to spend 1-2 hours per week on training.
  • All Peer Experts must be available on the Friday before classes start in Autumn semester for a mandatory training and orientation.

Peer Expert Qualifications

  • Peer Experts must be knowledgeable about data analysis content covered in Psychology 2220.
  • Peer Experts should possess excellent communication and listening skills.
  • Peer Experts should be skilled in using SPSS and Excel and be willing to learn more advanced skills.
  • Peer Experts should have a patient, helpful, caring, and sensitive demeanor and a positive attitude when working with students.
  • To apply, you must be an undergraduate student at Ohio State in AU26 and SP27.

Hiring Process

  • Interested students apply online to be a Peer Expert for the upcoming academic year during the prior spring semester.
  • Following the online application, applicants for the Peer Expert positions complete an online Skills Test covering content from Psychology 2220.
  • Selected applicants are invited to interview.
  • After interviews, applicants may be offered a position as a Peer Expert for the upcoming academic year.
  • During the summer, Peer Experts complete online training and readings to sharpen their data analysis and tutoring skills.
  • On the Friday before classes start in autumn semester, Peer Experts must attend a mandatory orientation before starting work in the Learning Lab.

Peer Expert Compensation

  • Beginning Peer Experts are paid at an hourly rate. AU26-SP27 rate coming soon!
  • Peer Experts who return to work in the Learning Lab in succeeding years may receive an increase in their hourly rate.
