Psychology Student Front Desk Assistants - Department Ambassadors
Psychology Front Desk Assistants are enthusiastic, motivated, and responsible psychology students who serve as Psychology Department Ambassadors, advising office support staff, and social media content creators. This is a paid position where students will work a set 2-3 hours each week in the Psychology Advising office. Activities include:
- Creating social media content
- Scheduling student advising appointments
- Checking in students for advising appointments
- Welcoming visitors to the department and directing them to the appropriate offices
- Answering inquiries (in-person, via phone, and via email) from visitors, students, faculty, and staff and directing them to appropriate resources
- Meeting with students in a mentoring capacity
- Scheduling rooms for events
- Ordering, stocking, and maintaining inventory of office supplies
- Assisting with planning and implementing undergraduate and department programming/events (scheduling speakers, event promotion, setting up, running registration tables, introducing speakers, etc.)
- Other projects and duties as assigned by the Director of Undergraduate Programs and/or the Office Manager
In addition, students will have the opportunity for additional hours serving as a Psychology Department Ambassador. Activities include:
- Assisting with recruiting prospective students through email, phone calls, in-person visits and recruitment events
- Attending department events

Hey everyone! I’m a third-year student from Dayton, Ohio, pursuing a B.A. in Psychology with a minor in Child Abuse and Neglect. I’m on the pre-medicine track and plan to specialize in pediatrics after graduation. Within OSU I’m a research assistant for the COPE lab, participating in STEP, on the executive board for Society of Sisters and Women Who Serve, and a member of a variety of other clubs! Hi! My name is Luca Hartman (they/he), and I am from Dover, Ohio. I am currently a third year Psychology major (BS) with a minor in Spanish. After undergrad, I plan on pursuing a master’s degree and becoming a therapist specializing in counseling for adopted children and their families. Besides being a psychology ambassador, I am also a teaching mentee in the Undergraduate Teaching Experience Program, and through that, I joined my mentor Dr. Shoots-Reinhard's Cognitive and Affective Influences on Decision Making Lab. Outside of the psychology department, I am also the vice president of AROUSE student radio, along with a member of their magazine board. I am also in Universities Allied for Essential Medicines’ Ohio State chapter. In my free time, I am an avid thrifter, and I love anything music-related whether it’s going to concerts or playing my violin in the campus orchestra. Hello! My name is Kayla Kilgore and I am a second-year Psychology BS major from Cincinnati, Ohio. After graduating undergrad, I plan to continue on to law school to study entertainment law. Outside of the Ambassador’s program, I am a member of The Arts Scholars leadership council, Morrill Scholar program, and Society of Sisters. I love to attend theatre and music shows around Columbus and engage in the arts on campus. I’m also a big cinephile and enjoy writing movie reviews. Fun fact: I know how to tap dance! Hey everyone! My name is Isley, and I am a fourth‑year from Chicago, Illinois. I’m majoring in Psychology (BA) with a minor in Pharmaceutical Sciences. After graduating, I plan to attend graduate school and become a clinical health psychologist. I’m especially passionate about improving healthcare literacy, increasing medical adherence, and promoting preventative healthcare measures within my community. Outside of being a Psychology Ambassador, I serve as the Co‑Outreach and Recruitment Chair for The Sister Accord and the Academic Liaison for Black Students in Psychology and Neuroscience! Hey everyone! I am a third-year from Columbiana, OH. I’m majoring in Psychology (BS) and minoring in Criminology and Korean. After graduating, I plan on getting a PhD and becoming a criminal psychologist. Aside from being a psychology ambassador, I am the President of Daebak, which is a student organization on campus that sings in East Asian languages. I am also a member of the CAIDe lab and the Vice President of Singing for Solutions, another student organization on campus that is working to raise money and awareness for music therapy programs through karaoke nights. Last summer I used the Second-year Transformational Experience Program (STEP) here at OSU to study abroad in South Korea, and I would love to talk about how you can take advantage of all the opportunities Ohio State has to offer! In my free time, I LOVE listening to music, playing guitar and other instruments, hanging out with my friends, and watching K-Dramas. Hi everyone! I’m a fourth-year honors student from Blue Ash, Ohio, majoring in Psychology (BS) and minoring in Neuroscience. Over the past few years, I’ve become heavily involved in cognitive psychology research, working as a research assistant in a number of labs. More recently, I’ve gained interested in applying the data science used in these labs to analyze real-world problems. Over the summer, I will be working for a naval supply chain consulting firm in Washington, DC, using the analytical skills built through lab experiences and applying them to fields beyond psychology. I'm especially interested in how modeling and different types of data can help reduce ambiguity across human behavior, business, and technology. Outside of academics, I love hiking in national parks, discovering new coffee shops with my family, playing with my two dogs, and watching practically any sport on TV.
