Your brain is constantly deciding what to keep, what to connect, and what to update. This quarter we’re joined by Dr. Megha Sehgal, a behavioral neuroscientist at Ohio State whose lab is working to figure out how all of that actually happens.
Dr. Megha and the Sehgal Lab study how memories are formed, linked and reorganized in the brain. Using everything from behavioral experiments to miniature microscopes and advanced brain imaging, her team is exploring how one experience becomes connected to another, how memories change over time, and what happens to those systems as we age.
So if you’ve ever wondered why one random moment can stick with you for decades while yesterday is already a little fuzzy, this is a good night to come hang out. Grab a drink, bring your questions, and spend a couple hours talking about one of the strangest things your brain does every single day.
This event is FREE and no ticket is required for entry. Donations are optional but registration is encouraged.
Seating is first-come, first served. If you have accessibility concerns, please contact us at admin@thirdpattern.org as we strive to be inclusive.
Weird Science and Whiskey LIVE! is a casual night out built around having fun with real science, honest questions, and good conversation. Hosted quarterly by The Third Pattern in partnership with The Ohio State University College of Arts & Sciences Office of Engagement and the STEAM Factory, each segment will bring something new and strange, timely, and worth thinking about.
This is an informal interview and Q&A, not a lecture. The goal is clarity, curiosity, and FUN-- not credentials.
