Join the Developmental Psychology area for a talk by Laura Wagner  (The Ohio State University)! 

Title: Talking with Families about Language Science 

Abstract: The Language Sciences Research Lab is a working lab embedded inside of a science museum.  In this talk, I will discuss our program of public education aimed at inspiring visitors to the museum to think about how science works, with a special emphasis on how scientists study language.  I will cover best practices in this area, discuss the special value that focusing on language science, and present results from some of the studies we have conducted with visitors about the impact of our efforts. 

About Laura Wagner: Laura Wagner is an Ohio State psychology professor in the Developmental Psychology area.  Her primary research area is child language development, particularly the acquisition of semantics.  She is the Director of the Language Sciences Research Lab at COSI where she also studies how best to engage the general public around science and trains students to do so. 


The Developmental Seminar Series area features both internal and external speakers who are experts in a wide range of topics including the development of cognition, perception, learning, emotional processing, and social relationships.
